So I don't exactly have proper context for this, and no idea how I'd feel about the actual "classics" of the time. It's my understanding that this is a fairly unnoteworthy example of that genre, doomed to be forgotten if it wasn't for the enormous popularity of its sequels. I'll cop to being almost entirely unfamiliar with the old-school "CRPG" genre, having never played the games like Ultima Underworld that apparently inspired Arena (I honestly was never into DOS games as a kid I didn't have the attention span for them).
